Archived Webinar: Records Management: The Trouble with Government Documents
An ALGA webinar held December 9, 2014
Records Management is often viewed as a necessary evil in government organizations. Government entities generate hardcopy and electronic “paperwork,” which must be managed appropriately to help ensure public accountability and to meet legal requirements. What happens if it is not done correctly? What are the legal and organizational consequences? We will examine the role of records management in local governments, with an emphasis on common mistakes, pitfalls, and case studies, to illustrate why all local government entities need to manage their records properly. This webinar will provide auditors with useful audit tools and potential risks to consider in conducting a records management audit. The webinar will also help auditors think about how they manage their own audit records.
