When Local Governments Collide - Conducting Joint Audits

Two counties discuss a joint audit project – a multi-county owned software system, which was failing to be transparent and accountable. The audit turned out to include threatened lawsuits, numerous public information requests, cost sharing agreements, and over a year invested in a project that still strives to be resolved. The session will explore what was gained in doing a joint audit and observations of why governments collide and how the auditors strived to turn sparks into stars.
